A firefighting aircraft that took part in an airshow at Afonsos Air Base (SBAF) in Rio de Janeiro caused an incident that resulted in the death of a young girl and many injuries. According to reports, the aircraft was instructed to fly over the audience and spray some water to relieve the summer heat. The water hit one of the audience fences and fell over the audience. 9-year-old Ana Gleice de Oliveira was taken to the hospital with cranial trauma and internal haemorrhage but died shortly after. Another child was treated for a broken arm and a 35-year-old man is still at the hospital.
The aircraft involved was PR-EBM, an Air Tractor AT-802

Sounds really terrible.........RIP to the girl, thoughts with her family.
I've never heard about an aircraft spraying water over an audience before this.

Usually they don't do it with aircraft, but it's very common at concerts and other events with large audiences in the summer for the firefighters to bring in a fire engine and spray the audience with water from a hydrant - it gets REALLY hot in Rio this time of the year. The aircraft was supposed to be off to the side, not directly over the audience...
