Leaving in December on 763 IAD - SFO nonstop. I wonder what kinda service will I get both ways. Any food onboard for transcontinental domestic flights?

The three-class birds are nice enough, as they have personal televisions in all three classes. Economy is "Buy on Board" and the quality is good for $5. Non-alcoholic drinks remain free.
Dinner service in First and Business is the best. Three courses for both cabins. Business has the salad/appetizer and dessert (cheesecake) usually plated on the tray as it is delivered, and then the entree is brought separately. In First Class, it has been my experience on the IAD-SEA runs that the salad and appetizer are served separately, then the entree, and then dessert. However, SEA's crews really try harder. Either way, in F dessert will be separate as it is a hot fudge sundae.
Lunch is decent. Usually an appetizer and then the entree. Dessert usually is a hot cookie in both classes. Breakfast is all served together, usually.

How appropriate this question....I fly for UA and this is my route this month....We fly a 763 to SFO, 3 class of course. This month we have been serving in FC a full meal service, consisting of Chicken Teryiaki or Beef Tenderloin, and an ice cream service. BC has been getting Beef Tenderloin or Lasagna Bolognese, with a chocolate mousse cake for dessert. YC has been serving A Hawaiian Chicken Salad or Turkey Wrap w/ ruffles chips also a selection of 4 buy on board snack boxes, the salad and wrap are of course buy on board too. So in December I'm sure it will not have changed much, maybe the selection choices but it will still be a full service in FC, BC, and a buy on board selection in YC! hope this helps........

Quoting 1011 (Reply 5): Maybe you will get lucky. I did this route in March. Our 763 was upgraded to a 744. We got big time lucky. Fun flight. I would bring a subway onboard
Haha!, maybe in the return, My flight leaves 8:30AM. Not sure about an in-flight steak and cheese that early in the morning. Good suggestion though!!!
