Fleet utilisation may mean that the 777's are free for 4 or 5 hours three times a week, while although there are more A332's they are busier. A6-EYA was returned on the 18th to TAM as TAM9970 PT-MVA.

They also use the 777 to KWI which is usually a poorly loaded flight...

They could do with half a dozen A319/320 or B737/8's to do the poor loaded short sectors... Like KU, QR and GF do... But EK don't have anything smaller than the A332, so EY most likely won't either... Size mattering and all!  Wink

Cheers!

Would Cargo revenue on THR and KWI perhaps not have something to do with it?? -

Good point. Do you know why Etihad, and Emirates for that matter, do not operate any smaller aircraft than the A330? Surely they can't have full loads on EVERY single flight?

If they operated a few A32X's, they could open up a market to some smaller airports in the Middle East.

I do not know - but I vaguely remember somewhere EK saying that they would not operate narrow-bodies...

QR I think quite successfully operate the Airbus narrowbodies (they have A319, A320 and A321's) alongside their Airbus longhaul fleet of A332 & A333.

Who knows, maybe EY will get a few little 'uns in the future...
