There's one of those go-cart/video arcade places adjacent to I-35E here in Dallas that did something similar a few years ago. The had pretty much the whole fuselage of one of those old Sikorsky S-55C helicopers, and they had the thing on its side, with the tail boom and rotor blades scattered around. They had it rigged with some yellow/orange lights inside (to simulate fire) and some CO2 or theatrical smoke, and when they fired all these items up (especially at night) it looked quite realistic. More than one motorist on 35E called it in to 911, and DAL tower also got a few calls, since the site was on about a 3-mile final for 13R.

How do you know the G3 wasn't just scraped, or damaged and then scrapped?

Lighten up. Francis.

Honestly... wouldn't that just add to the realism?  duck

As Clickhappy has pointed it. It was probably scrapped or already damaged anyhow.

How many G3's ever actually went down anyways?

The guy who owns the house is an aircraft mechanic. In California it is easy to get aircraft parts from scrapped aircraft since there are so many planes scrapped out in that area.

Personally people need to lighten up. Good to see someone still has the spirit to attempt to scare people in this Computer age where its hard to believe anything. I say good on him, now I need something like that for my Halloween!

Pity about the G3.

It is kinda tasteless, especially if a real major accident had occured in the area and to some extent in the post-9/11 era. I just hope the aircraft used wasn't in a real accident where people were killed or seroiusly injured. Next time stick to pumpkins.

Why? I think the display was pretty kick ass, and if the plane was just scrapped, who cares?

I think it's a pretty cool design. Though you would think the police officer would have thought there would have been more damage to the surrounding area if it was real.  eyebrow

I have seats, overhead bins, windows and some parts in my house. But I think having a airplane crash scene for halloween kinda tops it.

Please do, if I were still in LA I would do the same.

I like the scene, very funy in a dark humor sort of way. Ang I agree, lighten up people! Airplane humor does not have to stick to the food  Wink

I think its a cool and awesome plan. Would have been funny to see all the police patrols racing to the area if the officer had called in for back up, only to find out it wasn't real.

Some people need to lightin up thou

26 Post contains images David L : Indeed - someone else reminded me by IM within seconds of my post. D'oh!
27 NWADC9 : I don't care what you guys think, but I think it's cool and humorous (knowing that it's all a hoax). Good idea for Halloween.
