Hi Folks,

Have spotted the A342 / State of Qatar (A7-HHK), here in FRA parked near the maintainance hangers.

Does anyone know the history of this plane? was Qatar the first operator or did they buy it from some other operator?

Thanks for any input
Best regards

No.26 was delivered in 1993 and appears to have been with the Qatar government since then.

The gov't now has 3 VIP jetliners - an A310, an SP and an A340 - for those days when you just can't decide how to get to London with your entourage. Oh, the agony of choice.

(Seriously, you can often see the Qatari gov't acft at Heathrow; I saw the 310 on my last visit.)

Wasn't the A340-200 purchased from Lufthansa?

The A340-200 was delivered new to Lufthansa Technik for VIP interior fittings and delivered to Qatar.
They had an A320-200 delivered a few months ago, c/n 927 registration A7-AAG.

No that one wasnt> The guy from Brunei bought
up a 340 and a 744 from Lufthansa because he
was impatient. Those planes as well as the Qatari
340 got their interiors/refuerbishment in Hamburg.
Also a 340 SU-GGG that went to the Egyptian Government of Mubarak as well as Saudi HZ-MH1
(his majesty) a 743 and a VIP SP for the UAE. All are/were prominent visitors in Hamburg for checkups!
Amir nice to know you live in Germany. I grew up
in Hamburg myself but moved near Atlanta in 95.
