GF is soon to choose a new aircraft type, to replace its 767s.
One of the problems is that, a few years back, Gulf Air represented almost all countries in the Gulf Air; Dubai left and set up its own carrier; then Qatar, then the UAE and now, Oman has Oman Air, so Gulf Air is now the state airline of Bahrain (and to a lesser extent - and ultimately, not at all) Oman. So, its ambitions and growth will be limited by its home market. Whether there is room for it, I hope so; GF is a good name in aviation (I flew them to India and back earlier this year and they were more than satisfactory).
As to the CEO, I believe Martin George of BA was mentioned, but he has recently been asked to leave BA under a cloud, so I guess they're looking for someone else.
The two hub strategy, as I said above, is likely to be simplified with a network built around Bahrain and I think that will ultimately be to GF's benefit.
