Hi,

I saw what appeared to be a Convair 580 (twice!) on my lunch break at PDX a few minutes ago...looked like they were doing multiple approaches on 28R!

Anyone know whose Convair 580 this is and what they were doing?

Beautiful Bird!

There are several Convair 580's running around flying cargo. I see them all teh time.

Could it be Air Tahoma or IFL? Those are the first two that come to mind.

There was also a TSU Contract Air Cargo one last night....so quite popular!

This is an aircraft owned by Honeywell International (Avionics company).

It is stationed at KPAE (Everett Boeing airport). They use this aircraft for avionics testing and have multiple noses for the aircraft. It frequents PDX. It Always comes home to PAE for the night.  Smile

It is likely Air Tahoma. BFI gets a flight a day for DHL out of YVR. Awesome looking bird. I love how the flight crew uses a rope or old rope ladder to get out of the plane!

Love the takeoffs too! Oh man, what a beauty.

The Air Tahoma contract has expired. DHL now uses its own DC-9 ex-YVR.
