There has been discussion about the final flights of the DC-10 for both United and American Airlines. My question is: are the DC-10-30s also being retired by these airlines? I was aware that the DC-10-10s were going out of service, but not aware that the small number of DC-10-30s owned by each of these airlines were also ready for retirement. What is the fate of the remaining DC-10s owned by UA and AA - are they also going to FEDEX?

The last AA DC-10 flight will be departing DFW-HNL on Nov,21st and will leave HNL that same day and arrive back at DFW on Nov22, at 5:28am. Hopefully it will sit on the gate long enough for the sun to get high enough for some photos when it gets back to DFW.

UA retired one D10-10 last night, N1836U. Its final passenger flight was DTW-ORD. I got a UA D10 photograph autographed by the flight crew. They didn't know that they had just flown the last flight until I told them. As an added bonus, I got to ride with the taxi crew out to the hangar line where we parked her. I got to sit in the F/E seat She will sit there for a few weeks for de-icing practice. I will get to spray her in a couple more weeks. It was kinda hard walking out of that plane having it pitch black inside with everything shut down.....
We have 2 D10-10's left, and 3 D10-30's left in PAx service. One of the remaining D10-10's is scheduled for retirement by the end of October. I'm not too sure right now on the D10-30's.
