Quoting Walter747 (Reply 7): Yes, but B6 operates out of LGA and EWR also
True though in all honesty PVD has WN and why go up against them, if you can attract the business by having BOS all to yourself.

Nope - these fourteen cities will be announced throughout 2007. SWF should be announced tomorrow.

honestly i think WN needs some competition at PVD
I don't like to fly on WN because everytime i fly on them i get poor service but i could write a whole trip report on it.

any guesses at what those 14 cities could be? Is the long rumored STL focus/mini hub going to be announced? Would love to see them here in the midwest.

Well I made up my own list of possible destinations:
Though I'm sure there are some cities that JetBlue would want to add before some of these other cities I listed. (SXM, YVR, YYZ.)

Finally someone agrees with me. Everyone i talk to says they love it.
I'll give a quick example of their poor service. It was July 2, 2006 MCO-PVD. We pulled up to the runway, then immediately turned around nobody knew why. of course the only gate open was the one on the other side of the terminal next to the air train. So we sat on the ground for 45 minutes couldn't even get up to go to the bathroom. On top of that i had this cocky lady from Cranston sitting next to me shouting "When the f**k are we gonna Leave"
So we get in the air. The seat belt sign never comes off even though there was no turbulence. The flight attendants (all 60 yrs +) wouldn't let us go to the bathroom, on top of that they keep bringing drinks down the aisle. So 3 hours later we land in PVD and everybody from the flight is sprinting to the bathroom. And the lady from Cranston sitting next yo me wouldn't shut up for the whole flight, and she even yelled at the the f/a's because they wouldn't let her daughter go to the bathroom.

To be fair, there's a list of cities served by Southwest and jetBlue. This whole thing about other LCCs being 'scared away' from airports that already have Southwest is overblown. It's not as though it's an iron-clad thesis.

Yeah - there are a lot of cities that JetBlue flies to that are also served by WN. However, JetBlue flies to different destinations than WN. Though, I do agree that other LCCs being scared away from airports that Southwest already served is overrated.

Chris in NH
I have to agree as well my point being that BOS and PVD are closing enough that B6 is probably attracting passengers to BOS that they would get if they offered service from PVD. And why upset the cart, i.e. WN when you do not need to right now.

but if you lived up in the northeast like i do, its frustrating to go up to BOS which is and 1 hour away when PVD is 20 Min. I think i would much rather go the 20 min to PVD. PVD is an altrenative to BOS. Most people actually go out of PVD or MHT to get away from the BOS traffic and its actaully a lot easier too.

While that might be the case domestically - BOS attracts a lot of international passengers. I remember when I lived in Houston, I lived about fifteen minutes away from Hobby, and fifty minutes away from Houston Intercontinental. So I understand your view... but I often preferred to fly out of Intercontinental. I can see JetBlue adding service to Providence but JetBlue's ops in and out of PVD wouldn't be very large at all.

I agree with you but usually the people i travel with would prefer PVD, as i would prefer BOS. So i kinda like PVD, but if B6 decided to fly there it would be beneficial.

I can understand being irritated...I would be, too....
But how is WN responsible for an annoying seatmate?
Just wondering.
25 PVD757: the more you (and other people) go to BOS, the less and less likely B6, FL, or anyone else will come to PVD. These airlines want to see as clear an o
26 JBLUA320: PVD is highly unlikely... with the mini-hub in BOS, I don't think they'd want to dilute the market share. Though they do fly into EWR and LGA, I think
27 RL757PVD: While i agree that it is unlikey anytime soon, it would actually INCREASE regional marketshare. There is a large population that is in a shared catch
