I work for United. I have been planning to visit Paris since earlier this year. Well since United only has two flights a day into CDG now. I couldn't get on last May. So I planned to go this month. I made my hotel reservation about four months ago. So even in the middle of October, the flights are oversold. I really hate flying stand-by these days. How does a International First class cabin booked to zero a week a before the flight fill up a day before the flight. In the fourteen years I have worked for United. If International First was empty, you could pretty much count on getting it, if you have the seniority. I thought it took way too many miles to bump up to First?
So fast forward to last Sunday. I have another vacation in December. I'm planning to go down to PSP. I will make it easy on myself. Wrong! So I buy a ticket on Alaska. They start their nonstop PDX-PSP this time of year. The departure times work great for my schedule. So for the hell of it. I was looking at Apollo at work. They were showing a different departure times coming and going then the ones I had booked for. I thought that maybe they didn't update the new Alaska flight times.
I get home and call up Alaska. I told them what I found out. They checked the flight times, and they indeed changed. The flights leave six hours earlier now. Even United doesn't change their schedules a month and a half before. The new times just don't work for me. I told the agent to switch my flights into ONT on Horizon. She said fine. I asked if Alaska will refund the difference between the PSP and ONT flights. The ONT flights were cheaper. She said they can't do that. I would have never booked the flights into PSP, if they had the new departure times posted. They should of had their schedules set about three months ago. When I picked my seats, about half the seats were gone. So I won't be the last person to call and change. I never did receive a call or email from them this week.
So much for making my travels and vacation hassle free. Maybe I should just drive for now on. I just like to say. I been a Alaska flyer for some time now. I been using ID90's for over eight years on them. I will step down from my soap box now.

Actually, he DOES pay a fair amount for these privelges..it is having to deal with all of the whining and arrogant not to mention P.I.T.A's he may have to deal with on a daily basis..and even has to pay a fair $$ for them...ID50 is 50% of the FULL Y/F fare..which is actually more than alotof the people on the plane paid for their seat at the excursion fare...an ID90, well that is almost impossible on INTL flights.
