NZ is investigating why an engine part came loose on a plane travelling from Christchurch to Queenstown last week, scaring passengers.
The plane turned back to Christchurch on Friday morning about five minutes into the flight after the discovery of a loose engine panel, which passengers said flapped around and made banging noises
The aircraft was grounded for half an hour while engineers fixed the 66-seater ATR-72 plane during the incident, which the airline described as an "unusual occurrence".
