Iberia DC-10 In Lima! What Is It?

When I flew into Lima I saw an Iberia DC10 parked in the airport. It still had Iberias titles but no longer the tail logo. Is it plane that has been converted to cargo? is it a training airplane? I thought all DC10s still in IB colours were stored at la Muñoza next to Barajas Airport.

Just to update that, according to the FAA list, it was de-registered on Oct 3rd 2005 when it was exported to Peru, and has no reg now from what I can see.

Nope...not a single DC10 is at Barajas currently.

Some of them were...at the beginning, but several years have passed since all of them were taken out of Madrid. One was scrapped there (EC-DEA), a few of them left to other countries (at least 2 of them joined CO's fleet before being stored or scrapped), while some others were taken to Malaga and some other places (Balearic Islands among them) for storage.

It wasn't with IB. That was YV-135C of Viasa.

yes saw the ex Iberia DC-10 also last week in LIM, aircraft looks bad and not ready to fly I can imagine that it is used for spare parts as the Cielos DC-10 fleet should need from time to time spare parts and it should be cheaper to have this aircraft as always buy the spares on the market.

Iberia hasn't flown DC-10's for some years. It must have been purchased in Spainm flown to Peru and stripped for parts.
