I'm both happy and sad to hear that ATA's L-1011-500s might be replaced by NW DC-10s.
I am in the military and I flew home on leave from Iraq in an ATA L-1011-500 and all dramatics aside, it was by far the best flight I've ever been on. LOTS of leg room, smooth flight, and the 8 degree approach attitude on landing made it feel like we were taking off. No other aircraft gives a passenger the sensations a Tristar does!
With that being said, does anyone have information on which tail numbers ATA might be receiving. It's likely I'll get a chance to fly on one before my military career's over if this goes down.
