Quoting Walter747 (Thread starter): how come KL does not fly to BOS even though it says they do on the massport website. I know NW does the AMS route, but why wouldn't KL do it
KLM puts its code on the daily NW-operated A333 flight between BOS and AMS. Next summer, the route will see a second daily flight, also operated by NW, with B752. KLM will also codeshare on that flight.

I am surprised that NW operates this route instead of KL. BOS isn't a hub for NW. Except for AMS, NW does not offer international flights from BOS.

In the deregulated system that the US is, you technically don't need a hub to operate a flight. Of course, business is done out of hubs with a catchment area normally, but in this case it's a flight from the outstation BOS to the hub AMS. Remember, NW also does it with SEA and EWR, and used to do it with IAD in the past. Like Larspl said, KL and NW split the expenses and profits on their joint routes.

When KL and NW first started their partnership I remember reading an article where the CEO of NW said "We don't care whether the pax crosses the atlantic in a blue plane or a red one."
"Flying isn't inherently dangerous...but very unforgiving of carelessness, incapacity or neglect."

Quoting MEACEDAR (Reply 7): Didn't KL fly to BOS with a 767 like 6 months back? One of my friends was connected in BOS for a flight to AMS with a KL flight on a 767.
It might have been a substitution, but KL has never had scheduled service to BOS with their own aircraft.
