What's with the name?

According to Answers.com, the definition of the word 'oasis' is:

An isolated fertile area, usually limited in extent and surrounded by desert.

How is Hong Kong either isolated or surrounded by desert? Hmmm!

The Chairman and Executive director of Oasis Hong Kong, Dr Raymond Lee, owns a group of companies that all exist under the "Oasis" name - "the Oasis group of real estate investment and development companies", as Oasis Hong Kong's web site puts it.
