Here is some great discussion on the topic of Northwest expansion in Europe with the 757.

So is NW planning on putting any kind of video in it's transAtlantic 757's? And is 757-200ER now the proper designation for wingletted 757's? If so, cool!

Then how about you tell everyone to start booking... some routes just can't handle it, and NW's 757's will have more room then a widebody does. (legroom)

LCD monitors are rumored, and WBC passengers will have a portable AVOD system.

No, it will carry the designation of a 757-200(international), referring to it's layout. But I doubt we're going to call it a 757ER of any sort.

So who's winning this game? CO or NW? US maybe? Others??

Lets see your choice is a 757 non stop or a connection via another city or possibley two! I'll take the 757 thank you.

In ACCESS these aircraft are designated 75W. I worked one DTW-MSP. And to answer the second question it still had it TV's monitors and ovens installed. It was still in its domestic configuration of seats. So we have the 75W, 755, 756, and 753.

I don't have anything against the 757, but I think that widebodys are better for international routes. NW's widebodies are the A330 and the 747, both of which are not good for this new route.
If there is high demand for the DTW-BRU route, do you think NW will upgrade with the A330, offer another flight to BRU that same day, or will SN Brussles start going to DTW. What do you think?

Well flying CPH-EWR I'll take SAS' 330 over CO's 757 any day...

And what a great piece of news on your 1st a.net birthday..!

NW upgrading to an A330 - highly doubtful IMO; let's first see if the route makes it to the spring of 2008; SN starting up BRU-DTW - not a hope in hell. They seem happy with their AA codeshare (ORD and JFK); it'd probably be more expensive for SN to start operating those flights themselves.

Agreed, where would they get the planes in the first place.
Anyway good news for BRU!A lot of jobs and a lot of work!
NW can trust the professionalism of the folks on the ground and I'am sure they will be happy of the services provided if they can fill the plane!

Quoting Floris (Reply 18): Any plane with just one aisle for more then 3 hours is a nightmare. Just my opinion.
I don't understand this reasoning. A person can only use one aisle at a time. During drink/meal service both aisles are blocked.
