Pakistani carrier Airblue has confirmed it ordered 2 x A320 in October and is in discussions with Airbus to order 4 more widebodies to take the total to 6. The following is a fair use excerpt;

By Anand Krishnamoorthy
Nov. 1 (Bloomberg) -- Airblue Ltd., Pakistan's second-biggest airline by market share, is in talks with Airbus SAS to buy six planes, including wide-body aircraft, as part of a plan to start flights to the U.K. next year.

The privately owned airline is in talks to buy A330 or A350 planes, for delivery after 2009 to serve new international routes, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, chief operating officer of Karachi-based Airblue, said in an interview in Mumbai. The purchase of a wide-body aircraft will be the first for the carrier, which last month placed orders with Airbus to buy two A320s totaling $133 million in value, based on list prices.

The A330 seems most likely IMHO given they want 2009 delivery and only have US$12m in capital.

Likely is an understatement LOL... No one could EIS a plane in < 3 years, unless Airbus is back to a reworked 330 as the 350?!? Does this article let on more than it appears at first glance?

I don't care what you think of my opinion. It's my opinion, so have a nice day :)

I looked back into this carrier as I recall they made a previous announcement and it turns out that they actually may have some options oustanding on the A330 which could still be valid. Just thinking out loud. That information was from August, 2005. To answer your question, most likely not.

I think I was the first person on A.net to discuss Airblue a few years ago.. biggrin ...

For the most part, they have modeled themselves after B6, but they want to start operations to London.....

Many people in Pakistan like their service, and their fares are VERY cheap compared to EY, EK and PK....

Given the current PK fiasco, Airblue is poised to take some market share away from PK....
