RAF Jets have been scrambled 6 times in the last 12 months to escort commercial flights over UK airspace. Can anybody give any details of these instances?

That just shows how paranoid people are. Why not put an explosive device in every aircraft, and if one doesn't answer a radio call within three seconds - boom!
