Hi, I am planning a trip to london next year. I would like to know where would you fly out of? And what carrier would you fly? I'll tell you this i do not wanna fly on a 742. I would rather not fly on a md-11 or dc-10. With all those in mind what would you do?

As Mad Max said depends on where you leave from. This is a list of aircraft ued off the top of my head from the USA to London:BA 747-400/200/767/777VS 747-400/200 A340 AA 767/777/A300/(odd MD11)UA 777 (with the odd 747-400)US 767/A330CO 777/757/(DC10 gone by next year?)DL MD11/777NW DC-10TW 767AI 747-400KU 777I would recommend Virgin Atlantic over any other airline. The seats are more comfortable in the A340 than on the 747 which feel a little cramped to me. The FA's and inflight service is way better than on any other carrier (and I have gone transatlantic with all of those listed above other than DL and NW). I flew back to JFK from London 2 weeks ago on BA to try out their new World Traveller product. Whilst the seats and PTV are OK, the FA's are still as snooty and cold as ever. The worst part is that they have stopped serving Baileys Irish Cream in coach. Whoever you go with have a great time in London

Here are several options:
1. AA Connecting in ORD: 767
2. AA Connecting in DFW: 767
3. UAL Connecting in IAD: 777
4. DL Connecting in ATL: 777
5. CO connecting in IAH: 777
6. CO connecting in EWR: 777 or 764

Hey, what happened to Air Canada?
Why not get 2 countries for the price of one!
Take CP (now Air Canada) from DFW to YYZ.... from there, depending on the equipment that night, you will have a 744, A340 and maybe if you are lucky, an A330.
World class service on AC but i must admit Virgin is much better and I am sure BA would do well for you as well.

I flew a BA 744 outbound from ord and a 742 on the way back, there was no difference in comfort as PTVs weren't installed on the 744 at that time. I think BA now operates the route with a 777.
