With CO's dominant hub in place for years, many of the legacies have reduced service and frequencies to EWR. At this point, I think DL only serves ATL, CVG, and SLC from EWR (and we're lucky to get 757s on the ATL routes.)
But it wasn't always this way. DL has had a moderate presence at EWR throughout the 1980s and 1990s. They used to fly to FRA, LAX, DFW, MSY, PBI, FLL, and MCO at various points in the early 90s, with the florida routes sticking around until 2005 when they cut Song out.
So if you can recall, what have been your experiences on DL out of EWR? What gates, frequencies and routes have they tried and failed at (or maybe sucessful at for a while?) There's plenty of other EWR folk on this forum so I'm sure there will be some good posts.

Its not Delta but I remember flying United EWR-MCO-SRQ sometime around 1994-1995 or so.

My first widebody flight was on a DL L-1011 from EWR-ATL-IAH, way back in November 1977. Jesus, that's 29 years ago! I was 12 at the time and I will NEVER forget that. The flight number was 1115. A wonderful memory for sure.

This was part of UA's short lived MCO hub, around 1992. They gained some additional ground capacity at MCO when they took over DL's gates when DL moved to 60 - 99.

The L10 and the old terminal at ATL - a wonderful memory indeed.

I remember in 1987 and 1988 DL flew out of Terminal B on Satellite B3 which was gates 60 - 69, they shared that with Eastern. Eastern had gates 60 - 64 (?) and Delta had gates 65 (?) to 69. At the time, I thought it was odd to put two arch rivals next to each other that offered competing flights to many of the same destinations (ATL !!! MCO, FLL, etc). this concourse is now used by international airlines and is part of the immigration/customs facility at EWR.
