Based on Air Transat's flight schedules, http://www.airtransat.com, starting May 2007, they will start service from Montreal to Barcelona, Valencia & Malaga, and will start service from both Montreal and Toronto to Vienna.

Hmmm...interesting. Good to see some more charters to Spain, although I wish BCN was out of YYZ! How did the YYZ-MAD route do this year?? VIE is a bit suprising as I dont even thing OS is doing that well on the route. I could be wrong though. Good for TS though, at least one Canadian charter is trying new things, unlike boring 5G!

Agree. An YVR to VIE would have been quite interesting (avoiding the Toronto hub altogether).

Oh well somebody will do it one day  yes

So these are incoming charters on the Spanish side or are these flights also being marketed by Spanish travel agents for visits to Canada?

When will TS look at Australia?

Surely the old Canada 3000 route YYZ/YVR/HNL/BNE/SYD/AKL/HNL/YVR/YYZ would be a winner using a 360+ seat, 2 class A332, even if only twice a week?

Find an a.netter who isn't looking for an SXM service from his home airport.....  Smile

Btw, won't this be the only intercon service to AGP? (let's not count North Africa if there is something there). Haven't heard of intercon from AGP before.. Good luck to Transat and AGP!

I flew YYZ-AMS-YYZ on a TS A310 in September and I will never again fly TS on trans-atlantic runs. A 3 or 4 hour flight on their A330s is bearable, but the money you save on TS is just not worth it the poor service or the uncomfortable seats on a 8 hour flight.

I do hope they do well on these routes, there is definitely a market for it. I just hope they will look at replacing the A310s soon.

I've flown on TS many times before, including trans-atlantic runs and 3-4 hour runs to the caribbeans, and let me tell you that even though the seats are uncomfortable (i'm 6ft 0), the service is not that bad. Quite the contrary. I was pleased by the service on every single flight i flew with TS.

On another note, it's nice to see TS expand their network to Europe, especially out of YUL. Even though these are charter flights, i'm sure there will be the odd passenger who will be connecting in VIE. OS has the best Eastern European network among all the European airlines, and i'm sure this route will stick around for a long time.

OS had a hard time with YUL-VIE even though I flew the route back in 2002, and the flight was 90% full. OS had bad departure times out of YUL. The flights to YYZ, JFK and IAD used to arrive at 15h00 lcl and departed 2 hrs later, while the flight to YUL was still halfway over the atlantic. OS never stood a chance in YUL.

They apparently have a hard time with VIE-YYZ now as well. I understand OS is in a bit of trouble right now, since they want to sell off their A332's to inject some money in the airline and close down weak long-haul routes, including Male, Colombo, Mauritius and Phuket.

Hopefuly TS will have better luck with this flight.

A few years ago, OS had a couple of flights from VIE to YVR in the summer using the A340. If I remember correctly, it was around the same time that AY had a HEL-YVR run in the summer with an MD-11.

I have flown OS during the Christmas holidays last year from YYZ to VIE and the outbound flight was overbooked ( it was on an A330 ) , the inbound flight almost a month later was about 80% full , I know that loads don't mean much and that yields are more important but i just wanted to give my input .
After they sell their A330's , I believe that the YYZ service will be downgraded to the B767's .

They use to, but they have stopped now. The flights were for the royals for their holidays on the costa del sol. They use Gulfstream IV's instead now. Saw one parked up on the biz ramp at AGP on my last visit.

I absolutely agree. I flew YYZ-FRA-YYZ last week and the seats were the most uncomfortable I had ever experienced on any airline. When the passenger in front of me lowered his seat back, I measured the distance between my chest and the seat back in front of me was exactly the length of the inflight magazine (A4 sized paper?).

At YYZ check-in, I asked the ground agent if there was a window seat available, and she didn't even look and just said there's none. The way she said it came across more like she could not be bothered with as she had already printed the boarding pass.

During my flight to FRA, when I was napping, I heard the flight attendants getting water for passengers, so I opened my eyes, waited for the flight attendant to come to my row, took what I thought was one plastic cup from the pile in her hand and waited for her to pour water. The flight attendant did not do anything. I looked at her. She still did not do anything. There was a pause of 2 or 3 seconds before she said, "You took 2 cups." I was a bit taken back by her. As I was just waking up, I had no clue I actually took 2 cups because one was stuck to another in the pile. These incidents were quite trivial but they summed up the overall attitude of Transat's passenger service.

Negative. The NCE flights used to go onto CDG in 2005 and FRA in 2006.
