Is this new? I already flew twice on Aer Lingus between ZRH and DUB. Is this flight only seasonal?

No, this isn't new. EI already operates daily into ZRH from DUB.

Would be even greater if MH switched KUL-ZRH to a B. 744. We'll be loosing our last Jumbo at ZRH once SQ switches to the B. 773.

Exactly, just increased from 3 x week to 5 flight weekly and as of start of summer timetable in March will be daily. Nice to see 2 daily flights now between DUB and ZRH with Swiss and EI. EI has a fairly long history at ZRH is I remember correctly yet dropped the route for a number of years and there was only Swissair then Crossair operating the route. I remember that the menus in one of the restaurants at ZRH on the departures level just before security had a faded image of the tarmac and ZRH and the tail of an EI 737-200 was visible... as I'm Irish, I always loved this!

Wow, I miss ZRH, has been some 6 years since I've been there now, I really have to get back soon. Trying to convince my wife to go for a week of skiing in Davos, but looks like I'm not going to win this year with her preferring to stay close to home (as we have a 10 month-old son) and go to the French alps... ahhh! If we're gonna drive to the French Alps, what's an extra 4 or so hours to Davos?
Hope you're all well in Zürich!

Long live Aer Lingus!

Does AI do GVA then?

Why should they? The chance is about 0%. They fly to SIN and BKK. They don't have the aircrafts for this. With the two new 332 and probably up to three new 343 they will upgrade existing routes from 5 or 6 to 7 weekly (out of ZRH the second JFK, MIA, LAX, GRU/SCL and some African destinations). If they opened new routes it would rather be to China.

US hasn't published their PHL-ZRH schedules yet but I wonder how they will fit in to the already crowded gate usage for US flights at Terminal E if they choose to arrive and depart within the crowded 7:30am - 10:30am slot. I believe that E19-E35 (and maybe E42? can't remember) are gates dedicated specially for flights to/from the U.S. (both the US carriers' and LX's flights) because of the security set up. UA usually uses E19, CO uses E23, DL uses E27, AA uses E34 and E35 while LX usually takes up the remaining gates - E26 and E22.

There are actually 2 or 3 gates spare in that end of the E concourse (some of them are used for extra passport checks etc) so US should have no problem coming to ZRH.

I don't think that gates should be a problem in ZRH. If US really wants to fly to Zurich, there will be a solution.

Hi Patrick,

How are you. Long time without hearing from you, hope all is going well. I've read with great interest the threads on the ZRH meets you organised, they looked great!
I loved the old ZRH, and from what I've heard I'm sure I love the extensions done at ZRH. I really miss Zürich Klöten airport, Zürich city and Switzerland in general, a really great great place to visit.

BD apparently have slots for a 2 x daily service between EDI and ZRH with an ERJ145. Given that easyJet beat BD to it on EDI-MUC, I wonder if EDI-ZRH with BD just became more likely to actually happen?

Would make sence, especially since Shanghai Airlines will join Star soon. If not mistaken, this was rumored already more then one year ago.

With ZRH now as a Star Alliance hub, and AI entering the Alliance, will there be the possibility of more nonstop flights between ZRH and India? Maybe this could also result beneficial for AC in terms of more codeshare opportunities, which flies to India through ZRH on a 763.

There were rumours that AC will change their YYZ-ZRH-DEL service to YYZ-DEL nonstop as soon as they'll get their hands on appropriate equipment, which might makes an AI service from DEL more likely, however this is only speculation.

As for Shanghai Airlines, It would be great to see them here at ZRH. Any Idea what equipment they will be using? AFAIK, their largest type in their current fleet is the B763. Can a B763 do PVG-ZRH nonstop?

If this is true, then AC might only be waiting for the 77Ws or 77Ls to come online. I guess a 77W should be somewhat able to do the route nonstop out of YYZ with an adequate payload while the 77L shouldn't have any problems at all.

But then again, if this does happen, why doesn't AC start a dedicated flight to ZRH from YYZ? Or would they rather codeshare with LX out of YUL?
