Qatar Airways Opts For 20 More Boeing 777s

"Doha • Qatar Airways Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Akbar Al Baker yesterday stated at the World Travel market in London that the airline would be taking 20 Boeing 777s on option.

This comes in addition to the 20 confirmed 777s, deliveries of which will begin next year. The 777s are expected to form the backbone of the airline’s fleet and to be used on the long-haul routes to North America and Australasia.

The 777s will be taken in three variants, the long range (LR), extended range (ER) and freighter versions. On September 11 this year, the CEO had confirmed the orders for 20 777s. However, the announcement that there are options on 20 more of the aircraft was only made in London yesterday."

Has Qatar got any 77W yet?

One gets the impression the 77W is the A350-1000 that Airbus needs now now in 2014 by which time the market will be entrenched with 77W.

Congrats to Qatar and what has happened to their A350 LOI/order????

So does this mean that QR is taking hold of 40 777's all together? If so when are the other 20 going to start coming in, I mean the latter order.

No not yet. Next year they will start taking deliveries I believe.
