Canadian Affair are delighted to announce brand new twice weekly low-cost flights starting in May 2007 from London Heathrow to Toronto Pearson International Airport.

Surprised a low cost carrier would fly to LHR. Flight's are on weekends, so slots must have been available.

Wow that is shocking, the prices seem to be decent too, I wonder how they got slots in to LHR, arent they in high demand?

There flying at one of the few times when there are LHR slots

I guess Air Transat would like to fly to LHR more regularly and this is an attempt to establish sopme sort of LHR service and then hopefully aquire slots on weekdays at a later date

Surprising news, but good to see a new airline at LHR

It is a nice idea, for anyone who needs to get to East Anglia or elsewhere by train it is much more convenient. However, it is too bad the flights were with TS rather than TCX, who have a much better product.

35" seat pitch in C class? brrrr  Sad

Too bad they won't bring in their lovely A330s.

Really?

I thought they used their 757s for the canada routes?

Thats the whole point...I much prefer the 35" pitch at 6 accross on the 752 than 9 abreast on the A310/330 @ 29-30" pitch. The meals are better on TCX also.

Agree, when I flew with TCX I thought first I was in the wrong section.....
lots of space and yes food was actually very good.

Never less, Good for TS and lets see

Cheers,

Air Transat are not exactly a quality product - but right now they're selling London LGW - Toronto YYZ for £75 each way plus tax, which we like a lot. Their premium cabin isn't bad ("Club Transat"), it's like business class was in the 80s. Whereas on Zoom, whose premium cabin I flew YYZ-YOW-LGW last night, is normal economy: 2-3-2! Which begs the question, what the hell's it like in Y?

Anyway, nice to see Air Transat at Heathrow, they're not Cathay Pacific but they're an interesting addition nonetheless.

fly Saha Air 707s daily from Tehran's downtown Mehrabad to Mashhad, Kish Island and Ahwaz

I flew Zoom in Y twice in the past 3 weeks, YOW-LGW & LGW-YOW. It's pretty good for a LCC, much nicer than Transat. The leather seats are quite comfy and if you take an aisle seat there's room to strech. It's 2+3+2 seating just like in Premium, the only difference is seat pitch, 36" vs. 31".
