Hey everyone!!
i just found this video on the net, and when i watched it, it was a little weird because if u watch the whole video,,,the plane nose almost opposite of the runway heading, now i dont think that is a crosswind landing video, because i have seen bad ones!!
just take a look at it....i would love u hear what u guys think

I don't know, Fiaz, what's more difficult. Reading text without capitalization or shooting an IGS approach to RWY 13 at the old Kai Tak airport.

That would have been a really nice video of the approach had the guy filming not screwed up at the end how much he zoomed in! Ah well
As stated already the approach is normal procedure at Kai Tak, Just looks as though they didn't turn in enough to line up properly. If you do a search of photos a Kai Tak you can see it happened a fair few times.

The best part of this video is that it's under the category of "Comedy".
Really bad camerawork, btw.

Quoting Fiaz (Thread starter): plane nose almost opposite of the runway heading
G'day Fiaz , I think it was a case of bad camera work more then anything else. It did look like they overshot the turn and ended up a bit to the left of the centre-line, but the recovery seemed to be quite good and the landing itself seemed to be very smooth. Must have been the calming effect of that cigarette !

Quoting EGNR (Reply 10): At 02:32 in the video, the captain uses the radio and identifies the flight as "Alitalia 177".
I actually heard "Alitalia 1774".

How hard is it to hold a camera steady? A perfectly good video ruined.

AirWillie6475, you understate. Criminal in my book. Jumpseat on a beautiful MD11 into Kai Tak, landing, the heart of the video, ripped out. Fortunately, I got to jump seat into the new airport once, before 911

Sure, we're concerned for our lives. Just not as concerned as saving 9 bucks on a roundtrip to Ft. Myers.

That guy shouldn't be allowed to touch a video camera again.. what the hell is he trying to film during touchdown. The guy acts like he has Parkinson's disease or something.

I liked the "Bank Angle" callout from the GPWS shortly before touchdown...
