SQ 772ERs Being Refitted With New C And Y Class?

Does anyone know if SQs 772ERs will be refitted with the new C and Y class seats? and if, when?

I don't believe so as they're being phased out over time for A330s, 787s, and A350XWBs.

no they will not be fitted with those seats. so far the only confirmed aircrafts that will offer the new product are the Boeing 777-300ER and the Airbus A380-800 if it ever gets delivered.

Interesting point,
hmm, the 787s aren't scheduled for delivery before 2010 tho, the A330s won't be used for long haul as it doesn't have the range, perhaps only to Australia, and the A350XWB probably won't arrive before 2012, so are they going to fly the 772ERs with spacebeds till 2011ish when enough 787's will be here??
Have I missed something?
Any more opinions/facts are welcome

By then, the Spacebed product would be roughly 10 yrs old. Believe it or not, the First Sky Suites are also around that age now (or close) that they are starting to get replaced progressively... so the time frame is just about right.

it may be perhaps too early to say if SQ will retrofit the 772ER. The 772ER is a great aircraft for thinner long haul destinations and wish to see it stay as long as possible.

With the introduction of the new cabin products on the 773ER, SQ charges a fare premium. It is still under-going reviews how elastic the market is with regards to this fare hike. SQ will simply wait and see people react to their fares before making a decision. They would not want to fly empty planes around because their fares are way too expensive ( which is already ridiculous at present).

And also, the 773ER sits a mere 8F 42C 224Y. The 772ER will then sit no more than 200 pax perhaps? Is it still worth to fly the plane with this little nos. of seats? The extra weight, and all.. Also, this may not be relevant, but SQ traffic consist of mainly connecting pax. Imagine every plane brings in less passengers... wont that jeopardise pax numbers as well?

Til the end, it still rounds down to market demand for the expensive new product.

Great news that a new regional premium cabin is also on the way. But why equip the 787s with the regional cabin when it is a long haul plane?

I thought that plan is NOT going through to charge 10-20% more, I know in the thread on the new premium cabin someone stated a link saying there will be a price increase, however later on in the thread someone stated there will NOT be one, and comparing fares, eg. SQ25/26 to FRA with the 747-400 to the 773ER SQ325/326 for next June the prices are still identical!

Valid point however at the moment the 772Ers seat 285 pax, with no F class and 30 c class seats. This number would be reduced to perhaps 24-26, Y class would obviously stay the same if not be increased as pitch on 773ers will be 32, and currently on the 772ers it is 34 so in total seats should remain about even. Lets not forget other airlines such as NH seat less than 250. seats in a 773er.

Well I'd say it more severely belated news that should have come a long time ago but anyway....

In the press release, the 787-9 when ordered was said to be doing Indian Subcontinent, Middle East and North? Asia routes. These are typically B772 flights in a regional offering. That's the only reason I have to come to such a hypothesis.

Time will tell alas though.

Re fare premium, Definitely there is a fare premium attached to the new 773ER products. At this current moment I am also not sure on how the new premium will be charged, some people say that its already in the fare, but some not. Also depending on your originating station.

For example, you are booked on SQ25/26 FRASINFRA... If you were to change to 326 on the way back, there will be additional to be collected... Tts the Q surcharge. Not like 10-20%, but for example on C class there wld be a Q surcharge, just like how SQ charge USD300/500 for the non-stop LAX/EWR in addition to what you pay for in RTW fares.. If you don't wanna pay, you can go 1 stop, or other airlines..

Also look out for redemptions as well... Wondering if the allotment will be reduced per flight for commercial pax...

I believe SQ clarified that position by saying that it expected to obtain a 10-20% premium over current prices with its better product-- the premium would not be added right away, but rather be built up as word-of-mouth and marketing spread.

I think where we will see a 'premium' of sorts, is the tightening down of award tickets and with the Star Alliance RTW fares (I think there is now an additional surcharge added for flying in the new cabin).
