As the brand new airplanes started arriving to the THY fleet,sadly its time to say goodbye to our leased airplanes.TC-JLC (pyjama jet) is one of the first ones to leave.Although had different companies and colors on her history it was this retro design made her most viewed famous THY airplane ever.

I had good memories in it,felt the pilots of 1960s when we fly, I am sure going to miss it.Farewell "LC"

Why they phase-out the TC-JLC as the first aircraft?

Most of the leased ("old") A320/A321 of TK has no new operator - only four aircraft has that - so the "must" first phase-out this aircrafts...

I was shocked to hear that they were retro painting a soon to leave leased jet. Only my beloved TK could do such a dumb thing; "Hey lets spend all the money to paint a jet in retro colors, ok lets just pick one from the hangar" Its sad to see this bird go, it was a welcomed unexpected move from TK and it was great for brand recognition, oh well not TK's first bad decision.......

I was about to ask the same question. They really should have one of their new a/c painted in this special scheme.

TC-JLA and TC-JLC is the two planes which are now taken out of the line already for the delivery maintenance.

JMA,JMB is the next 2 to be taken to delivery maintenance,I think as soon as there is a spot on the maint. schedule they will be gone too.

I dont know if there is a plan for a new retro jet,my own thinking is they will not,I know such things are good publicity but what I don't know for sure is if "they" know that fact too...

I am not sure about till the end of this year if TK is still getting some more planes, not likely. But here is the schedule for the next two years:

2007 1st half: 1x320, 3x321
2007 2nd half: 6x320, 2x321
2008 2nd half: 6x320, 5x321

As you can see still a long way to go.

In my opinion too. That was by far the prettiest plane on their fleet.

The regular Turkish Airlines livery is boring and ugly.

These are part of the 59 plane purchase couple years back both from A and B.
When they arrive, the leased ones will go. I thought 738s were all in, now a total of 41, but I hear still 8 more to arrive?
Do they need them all? Well I don't know how many planes they will let go, or the situation of the 734s. But it is time to order some widebodies.

The new ones -which you can identify- with the registrations starting with JP series for A320s and JR series for the A321s are all THYs own not leased.The regs starting JL for 320s and JM for the 321s are all leased from different sources and we will be really glad when they are all gone.Our fleet will be having the same standardisation as all the brand new airplanes join the fleet.

Current THY livery is best expressing the Turkey's colors.And its easily recognisable.The tulips might be a little bit more visible I think, in dark it disappears.The retro one was found very dull back on its time,but I agree it looked stunning on an A320 Smile
