A second L1011-500 leased from Luz Air of Portugal will join PIA for Hajj flights later this month, one other is currently being used daily on Karachi-Dubai and Peshawar-Dubai flights.

PIA have an L-1011 going? That's awesome. I live in Dubai so ought to hitch a ride on one. Who does the maintenance for these birds and who were they originally operated by?

Don't expect too much, it's in the standard Luzair "colors" but still a nice sight of course.

Could anyone possibly confirm the existence of L-1011 flights from Dubai to Pakistan? I must travel to Lahore in January and would love to travel on an L-1011. I don't mind a connection to fly on one.

PK 213/214 KHI-DXB-KHI
PK 283/284 PEW-DXB-PEW

The service is actually operated as KHI-DXB-PEW-DXB-KHI.

Interesting! Luzair has only had one L1011 operational since June 2004, because the other had no less than three aborted take-offs at AMS and has stood there ever since, with its engines later removed. Will that be that second one going to Pakistan? Or did Luzair take over an L1011 from either EuroAtlantic or White?

I would assume it will be a wet lease, which includes flightdeck and cabin crew. Luz Air basing crew out there.

The aircraft is Luzair's second L-1011-500, CS-TMR, Lockheed s/n 1241. It has been stored in AMS for the past two years after experiencing multiple engine problems.

Thanks for the info. I passed through AMS recently but it was dark, so I was unable to see if it was still there. Anyway, glad to see a Tristar back in the air! For a while it seemed it was never going to leave AMS anymore.

According to the above forum quoting a source from aerotransport.org, CS-TMR will get two ex-Delta engines this week, it will then ferry to Southern California Logistics (VCV) Airport for C-check before going to PIA, and will be in Pakistan early December.
