Looks pretty nice, will the new ORY based 77Ws get it?

Didn't AF just introduce a new business class last year? Is this a modification of the present (new) BC, or a completely new design?

The seat looks like B/E Aerospace to me.... can anyone confirm the manufacturer of the seat?
I am surprised that they spent money on a new product not long after the previous generation, yet don't make them full flat.

I just returned from NRT, and the pilots told me that the company making the first NEV had gone bankrupt...
This is maybe why those look slightly different.
I hope that they will improve the terrible Rockwell IFE system !
They wher eso many complains during that flight

Ia Orana all !

Indeed, Marcus380 is right.
The first company that the seats were ordered from went bankrupt, hence the fact that it took so long to complete the full fitting of the whole fleet.
Air France had to choose another manufacturer and improved the seat at the same time. Now this new one will be rolled over the whole fleet.

Happy Flying,

AF Cabin Crew

Looks like a QF SkyBed without the 'hood'.

I may be way off but hasn't this been announced by Air France prior to 13 November 2006?

Yes. And this is not very new actually ...
The last B773ER delivered (at ORY) are already featuring these "new seats".
It is in fact just a "second generation" of seats, with minor improvements.

WHAT !? You mean Contour got bankrupt ?!

So what happens to loads of other airlines that are buying seats from them? CX, DL, AC is rolling out or about to roll out the new 'Solar' seat...

Does this mean they're going to refit the already "refitted" aircraft (i.e. the ones with new 1st/Biz class seats) with these ones?

Once you have tasted flight, you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward; for there you long to return

This is old news. I just flew AF 747 business class and had this seat. It was not nearly up to BA standards but was nice flight and I slept comfortably. There are plenty of pictures on this webtsite of planes in service with the new business class seat.

With all due respect, i guess you wrong on that point.
This is not as old as you may think. None of the AF B744 in NTC retrofit have those new Biz seats... AF B744, A343, A332, B773 (except the very last one as mentionned by FLYSSC) and some B772 are currently with the NTC 1st generation (you can see indeed plenty of NTC1 pictures on the A.net database) and it is the seat you got on your AF B744 flight.
We are here talking here about the 2nd generation of the NTC biz seats -NTC2- due to apparently the bankrupcy of the initial manufacturer. Those seats will be installed on the B772 that are still with the old biz seats.

However i am joinging AFC_ajax00 on his question regrading the refit of the already retrofitted fleet with the NTC 1st generation... Many biz customers have complained about slipping due to the bad angle reclined bed.

I am curious though if the 1st class NTC 1st generation product will change as well since this new Biz seats feature the same seat width as the current NTC1 P seat (64 inches) and the bed length is the same (6.56 feet). Will the NTC2 offer additional seat pitch due to the longer bed ?
FLYSSC or HB-IWC have you any additional information ?

Hello, new member here. I have been thinking about joining for a quite some time, so when I read this topic, I just had to join.

With regards to Air France's new Business Class seat-bed, I actually have some interesting information for you, directly from Air France...I will start by listing the features as I have them on a Press Release.

* it is the 3rd Generation of Business Class seat
* longer bed measuring 2m ( previously 1.88m )
* wider bed at 61cm ( prev 50.8cm )
* flat, almost horizontal, angle of 5' ( prev 9' )
* second seat control in the shell to enable passengers to adjust without having to sit up
*aisle side step to acess overhead compartments

it goes on to say....
First aircraft to receive this new bed is 777-200, totalling 17 of them, all new 777-300 ( except 777-300 for Caribbean / Indian Ocean )...by May 2007, one quarter of AF's fleet will have these seat, and by Oct 2007 all long haul a/c will have either 2nd or 3rd Generation seat ( the 2nd generation being the other NEV seats), meaning all 747 and 340/330 will have the 2nd generation NEV seat, while the 777 fleet will have the newer seat.

* This new seat will also be installed on all new KLM aircraft ( with KLM styling )

Hope this information clears up some things and you find it as interesting as I do. I look forward to good chats and interesting information being shared by all of you.....have a good night

Gmale,
thanks for all details..
Hope to have the new seats finished quickly...
I flew in October on the OLD business seats to EZE....a shame..

regards
Marcus
