How's the spotting in Taipei? Anyone get pissy at spotters and photographers.

I will be heading over there next week to support the second LCF. I'm not sure how much time I will have by looking at our work schedule. Heck I'll be at the airport everyday.

Thanks,
Erick

At the Taoyuan airport, there's a small cafe on one side that affords a good view of the runway with some good spotting -- it's built right next to where the CI A300-600R coming in from DPS crashed (it's called "Miracle Cafe," apparently because a very large chunk of the wreckage went right over the house and landed on the road in front of it).

One the side where you will be (at the EVA hangars) there's a private piece of land -- the farmer who owns it allows spotters access to a sluice gate that is a popular spotting area. Last time I was there, I noticed that the military had closed off the access road to the area, but that didn't stop anybody -- I simply parked on the public road and walked -- the other spotters who arrived after me just drove around the cones that closed off the road and went their usual way. Often when I've been up there spotting, the airport police have driven past and waved at us ... never been hassled at all.

I'm tired of the A vs. B sniping. Neither make planes that shed wings randomly!

BTW, how long will you be here Mechsys? Another a-nutter will be in Taipei around the end of this month (Thanksgiving time) and we're planning to go spotting -- if you're free, we might be able to do a mini a-nutter get-together one day.

LOL Sounds like when Royal and I were spotting at SEATAC. The Port of Seattle rolled by and acknowledged us. Sometimes they can be jerks though.

I will be there from Nov 23rd until Dec 3rd. It all depends on how things go. If things go bad I will be there until everything is squared away. I'm not sure what my free time will look like yet. There are two of us being sent to provide 24 hour support. I'm not sure which 12 hour shift I will get. We will see how it goes.
