Western Airlines, a new startup with an old name, will launch its first flights Jan 19 between Bellingham and Williams Gateway. Flights will operate 4 days a week. Press conference was at BLI.

The service will be on leased Xtra aircraft.

Looks like Williams is getting its shot as a commercial airport. Flights currently on Vision to North Las Vegas. Now Sky Value to the east and Western Airlines to the north and west.

Isn't the SkyValue service also Xtra aircraft?

Yep, I almost added that when I did an edit but decided not to say it.

This iteration of Western has been working on startup since last year. They were planning to be a scheduled carrier with flights starting in mid to late 2007 so this may be a temporary move to get the company started during a busy travel season.

The website is up and running at

They have even adapted some of the old Western's image, using the tag line "still the only way to fly".

They are advertising for a Web Developer, F/As, CSRs, Ground Handlers, and also Station Managers for Denver, Oakland, Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, Dallas, and Palm Springs.

Interesting since Allegiant seems to have beat them to BLI-PSP.  Wink

But that is a pretty agressive station schedule.
