With all this talk about US and DL thinking about a merge...I was wondering how DL and US livery would look like. Any thoughts? I know it is not final yet, but if it were to go through. Hmm....

I have no idea, but I do know the only winner in this deal is Sherwin Williams. Can you imagine the mishmash of liveries that would exist in this US-Delta combination: Old US Air schemes, old HP schemes, current merged US schemes, plus I believe Delta has 2 or 3 different paint jobs on their aircraft right now. What a mess.

Hopefully nothing like the current DL liveries. Ugh.

I could imagine the current US livery...with a widget by the front door, and the current US Airways flag on the tail.....

Whoa...that'd look really nice now that I think about it

Express, a subsidiary of the Washington Post, states in today's issue "If the deal is completed, the combined airline [DL/US] would operate under the Delta name and serve more than 350 destinations across five continents". So I suspect that we'd see a phase out of the current US colours and see all the fleet being converted to DL colours. However, there is a possibility that the "new" airline would opt for a brand scheme as well.

I don't like the USairways flag at all. I like the DL waving flag thing better.

Call it US Airways, but use DLs RWB colors.

HPs old colors get left out in the cold in this merger, and rightfully so. They were really inspired by their roots, the SW USA, and this airline goes far beyond those borders at this point.

Big version: Width: 643 Height: 343 File size: 182kb

That would look nice, keep the Delta name and logos, but with a significant update and intergrating the US/old HP styles.

Nice. It keeps the Widget.

I used KSUpilot's idea as the basis of my own "New Delta" (post merger with US Airways) livery:

I combined some elements of the current and previous DL liveries and combined them with some of the fuselage livery elements of the US Airways livery.

I agree. It is madness on the tail of the second one, as the logo doesn't stand out as it is basically the same or similar color as the backgorund.

There is no logo on the tail of my idea, just the Delta name, just as it was on the Delta livery that came out in 1997.

The first one looks pretty good. I wonder what it would look like if they slanted the widget back towards the tail like the original logo, while keeping everything else? The modified airliner photo of a merged US/DL looks a lot better than the current "Deltaflot" livery.I also wonder if this merger goes through, what will happen to the "retrojets"?

How about DL's old widget scheme, but in a highly modern style? Keep the widget sharp though, NO soft edges.

Yeah, but someone might poke an eye out with a sharp widget!  Smile
