I'm guessing that weather in PHL has gone to crap, since ACY now has 2 US A330's and 1 US 767 on the ground... I know one was from FCO and one from MAD, but not sure where the other A330 is from and couldn't get tail number...

Would have been a good day for the camera, especially with the AC A320 there also (Rolling Stones charter)

The storm system that hit the American south has now been slowly moving up the east coast. Lots of rain, wind, and all around unpleasantness.

I would never advocate that planes fly in unsafe conditions, nor would I consider any air traffic controller unprofessional, but all it takes is for one area to start a slow-down, and then house of cards falls. New York goes into bad weather mode, which backs up to PHL, then DC, and so on, and so on...if the FAA EVER gets around to re-designating the air space along the east coast, these delays might not be so bad. Or, at the very least, recovery could be quicker.

MDT has picked up numerous diversions from PHL. A variety of aircraft from NW, US, and UA are on the ramp right now.

Atlantic City, New Jersey.. it actually doesn't work with the rollover feature for some reason. It's very rare we get int'l diversions, especially from Europe.. with the lack of customs and all.... but it was a neat site

I had to run down there a little while ago and saw the UA birds close to the old terminal.

When I left work this afternoon MDT had no diversions. I always seem to miss them. Too bad MDT didn't pick up any international diversions. I still remember last year when we had 3 777's from UA divert in because of the weather at IAD.

Looking at FlightAware it appears that most of the diversions have departed for PHL. I'm surprised we didn't get any from the NYC area airports.

Ah yes. My girlfriend's flight CLT-PHL was cancelled. I had to route her to PDX via FLL and LAS. Roundabout, but it works.

For those who dont know your city codes. Go to www.airrouting.com and click on Airport Locator. Comes in handy, in both IATA and ICAO codes.

Probably from LGW, as flt 773 LGW-PHL diverted to ACY.

Nkops...In the "good old days" at ACY, we frequently got JFK & PHL international diversions. In fact, Concorde was a "regular" diversion visitor at ACY as it was the standard approved diversion airport because of the long runway (for it's day). We use to get Skystar 707 charters to Rome too!

Just for the record, we use to get nearly as many heavy movements as JFK before the proliferation of flight simulators. Pan Am (707, 747 & A310), TWA (747, 707), ONA (DC-8, DC-10, 747) and American (A300) would spend entire days training pilots doing "touch and go" maneuvers at ACY..

Didn't have a choice. Loads were incredibly high today. She had two choices, go through FLL or wait until the last flight to LAS directly from CLT, which was almost full. And of course the rule for nonrevs is to keep moving. It's not like she had money for a hotel room somewhere, she would have been sleeping in the CLT terminal. Last time I had to send her CLT-DFW-PHX-LAS-PDX.

Actually, when US first took delivery of the A330, it was in ACY all the time doing touch and go's all day long... was fun to watch, because we don't get too many widebodies anymore..

I was there a couple times when the Concorde diverted in.

MDT saw its fair share of the A330 during training. We also had a lot of E170's come over from PIT during training.

The A330 is a beautiful looking airplane!!
