In his letter to customers regarding the proposed US Air/Delta merger, the CEO says one of the benefits is:
"Participation in one of the world's largest airline alliances, opening up even more of the world for your travel"
I'm Premier Exec with United and I live next to DCA which I use for short haul travel on US Air. I'm fairly close to IAD which I use for long haul on UAL. I accrue all miles in MileagePlus. Clearly I hope that the alliance that the "New Delta" sticks with is Star Alliance and not the pitiful looking SkyTeam.
Because it has been discussed to death in multiple threads.
Quoting FlyLKU (Reply 2): I am specifcally interested in the alliance aspect of it. Not all the other ancillary discussions that went on.
Nobody knows. Why don't you send the folks at HP an email and ask their opinion. The only thing that has been said is the name of the merged airline (and I still say it won't happen) will be Delta. Nobody from HP has said anything about the alliances at this point.
Why don't you you just wait and see what happens instead of getting your hopes up for something that will probably never happen. You also save yourself the ignorant responses from all the little 13-15 year olds on here who know the CEO personally and know for sure what will happen but can't tell you because they will be given detention.
This wholemerger is pure conjecture and speculation at this point. Just let it run its course for now. PLEASE!?

SkyTeam is my vote. LH and UA have deep inter-relations so I expect Star will rescind US' membership prior to the merger formally taking place (assuming it does) to protect UA's position as the prime North American Star carrier.

Quoting Jamincan (Reply 6): See this thread: Alliance Of A Possibly Merged DL/US
Jamincan, what forum did you find that from because according to FLYKLU the alliance issued has not been discussed on airliners.net. Oh wait that's right it was here, and can be found with the search feature. And in case you did not find alliance being discussed there it was also discussed in:
