Hi

A bit strange I know but a rep from another carrier has said that EK are going to start NCL-DXB. Does anyone know anything about this?

Rich

Indeed, it's a case of wait to see if a P.R. comes out. Although, recently it has been strongly rumoured on various websites.

....the problem is these websites are hardly reliable.
EK at NCL -I cant see it myself, but thats my opinion. Expansion on existing routes is more likely.

The same rumour has been around regarding EK at CWL for a few years.

I'll believe it when I see it.

You can answer the likelyhood of this by the following criteria:

Is there a demand for people from that region to go to dubai in terms of business or tourism?

If there was, then surely you would be expecting to see an A310, or if your really lucky, and A332, maybe 1-4 times a week.

I just cannot see this happening now, if t did, it would happen later.

According to another forum they are starting NCL June 2007 with daily 332 ops.

As well as NCL - they are allegedly planning:

Newcastle
Daily effective from Sep 1st 2007 with A330-200

Toronto
Daily effective from Oct 28th 2007 with B777-300ER

Sao Paulo
Sat/Sun effective from Oct 1st 2007 with B777-200LR

Houston
Three times a week effective from Dec 1st 2007

Venice
Fri/Sun effective Jul 1st 2007
Daily effective Sep 1st 2007

Although I'll believe all of that when I see something official from EK.

It's not a matter of whether people from Newcastle want to travel to Dubai.

It's a question of whether there is sufficient one-stop traffic from Newcastle to the Indian subcontinent, Australia, New Zealand, southeast Asia and the Indian Ocean islands.

Likewise Cardiff.

Its like the kid at school who is everyones best mate. EK are trying to expand its network all over England. Successful or not, it will please a great many Northerners who do not like transferring through London. Hang on, they already do not need to because EK fly out of Manchester!

lol

Is there any European city over a certain size that hasn't been linked with EK?
