Barcelona based Vueling is set to raise it's profit in 2007. With the forecast, Vueling will be in the black.

Vueling will be increasing it's fleet of leased A320's to 16 by the end of this year. The airline also said that it's talking with Airbus and Boeing for fleet expansion and an order for up to 20-40 planes. The airline is also said to be looking to start a base out of Spain.

Vueling is going to afford it's expansion mainly due to the presentation of the airline on the Madrid stock exchange.

Good to see this airline is doing well! Flew them from Amsterdam and it was very good! I think a future order will be Airbus, however, never say never!

Cheers!  wave

Vueling has a great success here in Spain since their first flights in July 2004, with lots of positive reviews. Many times this carrier is also the cheapest option for some domestic routes.

It is surprising that Vueling, supposed to be a LCC, offers inflight entertainment (videos with the TV comedy "Friends", "The Simpsons", etc., music channels) on short domestic flights while main carriers in Spain do not offer that (anymore).

Vueling will also offer a frequent flyer program. The average age of their A320 fleet is of 16 months.

I flew recently with them to BCN and I would fly again with them.

For the moment Vueling have shown last year just over 7Mill euro loss and expect to show a profit this year. "EXPECT" we will have to see and wait. Lets hope that they don't try to grow too quickly like Air Madrid and F*ck up in the same way.

Air Madrid is a complete other animal. Air Madrid's problem is trying to grow too quickly as an International low cost carrier with not enough aircraft. How they can afford fuel with ridiculously low prices on long haul flights is beyond me. We have also seen what happens when one of their aircraft goes OOS. On a long haul route its not like you will have an aircraft available to you in an hour or two. I would like to see how much longer Air Madrid can survive.

Kudos to Vueling. Im sure it helps having Jet Blue on the board of directors!!

Funny thing is though that back at the beginning of September, I actually found a cheaper flight with IB from Alicante to Barcelona for my sister and my nephew. Paid 20 euros + tax with IB as opposed to 60 euros + tax on Vueling. Obviously has to do with load factors...but it looks like IB is doing all possible to compete with Vueling...and now with the introduction of Clickair...we'll see how that heats up the competition!!

Hi Iberia340600

I agree with you 100% Air Madrid is a totally different thing. As for prices, an article not long ago in EL Mundo or El Pais I can't remember which actually found prices for some destinations (MEX I think it was) 200Euros cheaper with IB.

I predicted Air Madrid would not make it past the summer, they have (beats me how) But will they make it to the end of 2007? I doubt it.

Would love to know what their losses have been this year.

From the Rueters article:

Quote:
its upcoming listing on the Madrid bourse would help it buy aircraft and set up a new hub outside Spain.

Where would Vueling set up a hub?

Rome?
Milan?
Paris?
Brussels?

Just wild guesses, as I can't think of anyplace logical.

I flew Vueling this past spring on a last minute trip from Rome to Barcelona. The airfare was less than 60 euros, so you can't beat. Outside of the fact that there is literally no legroom in their planes (good thing I had a row to myself!), it was a great experience. Great airline, friendly staff, beautiful plane interiors, and I reallly liked the soft "lounge" music they played during boarding/disembarking and landing.
