Hey Guys,
I just found out Iberia's flight 6313 MAD-SJO is delayed over 11 hours. They were due in at 1630 local and the estimate is now 0351 into SJO. This is a massive delay and I wonder what went wrong. The ETD is set for 0530 local on Monday and since tomorrow I will be at SJO at 0700 local more or less, she could delay some more and maybe get a chance to spot her when she departs.
Poor passengers, I hope they get here safely and have no further delay. Imagine the passengers departing to MAD, they must be exhausted waiting at the airport and if not, waiting in their Hotels until very early hours of the morning, hope someone at IB can clear this up!

Clearly there must have been a major technical problem with the A340 or a strike. There's no other way to justify this. I tried to check through the AENA MAD website but it's not being very helpful at all.
Any IB or MAD insider here with more information?

Quoting LTU932 (Reply 3): Anyone have any idea on why the aircraft for IB6313 went AOG?
I think the main problem was 2 A340-600's where out of service. The one that was supposed to operate the MAD-SJO flight was undergoing routine maintenance which was not finished in time and the other was undergoing engine changes. Hence they had to wait for the first available A346 to operate the flight.

I can't confirm but I think it might have had something to do with a fuel contamination problem and some cleanig off tanks had to be carried out. Can anybody confirm this?
