I Just Booked JQ HNL-MEL

Hello

I just booked late Feb '07 from HNL to MEL. It seemed pretty straightforward, but during the booking process it said "Subject to Regulatory Approval". Does JQ actually have rights to serve this run, or are they still in the process of applying? The plane seat map seemed empty despite the extraordinarily low fare (US$275).

When do JQ start service on this run?

No, as yet, JQ do NOT have regulatory approval to operate to the USA.

They had a press release today announcing they have obtained a variation to their AOC from CASA, (and ETOPS) but the HNL is still subject to foreign regulatory approval. They mustn't expect any problem though given the bookings they've been taking, if approval was denied the negative publicity would cost them a lot.

Thank you all that is very informative. Fingers crossed. I'm excited. Yes, you pay an extra $10 or so each for meals and entertainment, but it seems like a good deal to me!

hmm I'm guessing its a one way fare but that it is still an extraordinary price to pay. But remember no amenities. BTW how much was the Star Class fare if you saw the prices?

Yes, a one way fare. Indeed no amenities, but I think I paid an extra $15 for food and beverage, and $7 for AVOD. Either way, if it gets me there on that fare, then it's totally worth the lack of other amenities!!!

StarClass fare for the same flight was USD695.00 - not bad if you ask me!!! If I wasn't a scrimping university academic I'd be on that.

I am flying JQ 1 from MEL to HNL 29th Dec 06 (the inaugural flight) and then back on JQ 2 HNL to MEL 5th Jan 07. I too hope that they receive government approval by the time the flight comes.

I too got a great deal! I also paid for meals, amenities kits both ways and AVOD.

I hope to see a trip report from your flight!

They received regulatory approval for most of their other routes over the weekend. (ie Thailand, Vietnam etc)

Hawaii isn't cheap so I guess a cheap flight is a good start

Where's the passion gone out of the airline industry? The smell of jetfuel and the romance of taking a flight....
