I was in NCE the other day, and I managed to speak to the U2 crew who flew me down there from LGW. Their day consisted of LGW - NCE - LGW - MAD, then a nightstop in MAD, before returning to LGW the next morning.
I thought it wasn't in the business model of low cost carriers to overnight crew away from their home base. But I was clearly wrong! Apparently, MAD is a frequent nightstop destination for LGW based crew.
Are crews nightstopping in MAD because it is a new base and they do not have enough crew based there yet? Or is nightstopping a frequent occurence for U2 crew?
Also, I'm quite interested to know where U2 base crew. Please add/remove from this list:
BFS, EDI, GLA, NCL, LPL, EMA, BRS, LTN, STN, LGW, SXF, DTM, CDG, ORL, GVA, BSL, MXP and MAD.
Next flights: LGW-LBA-LGW, LHR-SIN-SYD, SYD-BKK-LHR, LGW-GRO, GRO-CIA, CIA-MAD, MAD-LGW

I think they base crews at all your destinations mentioned but not at CDG. The flights are operated by foreign crews with inbound flights and the flights CDG-NCE are operated by ORY based aircraft and crew.
I see that a ORY based aircraft makes a nightstop in NCE (to operate an early morning flight to CDG). Also they will introduce flights MAD-LYS-CIA-LYS-MAD which is unusual too!

I am sorry for not able to answering your question but I have another a little bit strange question regarding to that. I know that the crews of all big airlines like Lufthansa, Emirates, Cathay, Qantas and so on overnights in hotels like Hilton, Sheraton, Hyatt and others. My question is, what about EasyJet crews? Do they overnight in 5* hotels too or are they requested to spend the night in lower class hotels due to the fact they are working for a LCC???

Right... here is an answer to all your questions...
Only scheduled nightstops that we EZY crew do are NCE and MAD at the moment. At NCE it is done so that morning flight to Paris is offered. It is done by French crew from Paris, all crew in Paris are dual based and they do flights from both CDG and ORY.
MAD nightstops are only temp until base there is set up and all recruitment for that base is finished which should all be done in February next year. There is loads of crew that are leaving english bases (mostly LTN, STN and to some extent LGW) to go and be permanently based at MAD.
