Back in September I had a RT on Delta but only used half of it. I called and cancelled the flight back but I have no idea what my ticket number was. Any idea if DL can look it up when I call them so that I can use the credit? Anyone have any ideas on how I can find it? Unfortunately I am not a SkyMiles member because I send all my SkyTeam miles to OnePass.

Thanks!

Do you have the boarding pass still? Unless they've changed since the last time I flew DL (which was January 2004, so it's quite possible they've changed), the ticket number should be below the words BOARDING PASS and ELECTRONIC TICKET. Assuming it was issued on Delta stock, the sequence of numbers would be "x 006 nnnnnnnnnn x" where 006 and the n's are the ticket number.

I don't have the boarding pass and I can't figure out the credit card I used to purchase the flight.

Either way, you can use the part of the ticket you didnt use minus 100 dollars...so if your ticket was less than 200...you dont have anything. If its more than 200...well just figure out which CC you used to purchase the ticket with...

Speaking of DL tickets, I just booked a flight for christmas time and they sent me a confirmation receipt via e-mail and said use that when I check in. Do I get a normal boarding pass when i check in, or is the e-mail they told me to print the pass?

I wish UA flew mainline to MYR, that way you wouldn't be stuck in a smelly Saturn for 12 hours.

Look at your receipt. It should have the etckt number printed right on there. Also just give the airline a call. They should have your name in the system. Just tell them what date the return flight was supposed to be.

If you want, you can print that e-mail and scan it at the self-check in machine and get a boarding pass using that. Other options include using a SkyMiles card, a Crown Room Club card or a credit card and they will pull up your reservation (you can also enter a confirmation number in manually). That e-mail will not get you through security - you will have to online check-in, use a kiosk, or see an agent to get a boarding pass.

As for the OP, I've been able to pull past ticket numbers up by calling Delta (might be doing this tomorrow night to use an unused GSO-SEA trip to go toward a BOS-LAS trip next month) - I gave them my name, dates of original itinerary, cities involved and they pulled it up...don't know if it helped that my SkyMiles number was attached to the original itinerary.

So I went to the Delta ticket office here in ATL and they were able to look up my half used ticket. However, I was told I could only use it for the same route it was already ticketed for which was EYW-ATL. I have never heard of such a thing and to me it is ridiculous. What was also ridiculous was everyone wearing buttons that said "Keep Delta My Delta". They have spent a decent amount of money fighting this merger already, those funds could be much better directed. I think it is a whole Georgia and South thing being obsessed with "their" airline. I did not want the merger before and now Delta is just being annoying, I hope they get bought.

Why is this ridiculous ?

Delta's been a Southern based airline for 75+ years, and has been based in Atlanta for a fairly good chunk of that history.

It's the largest employer in the entire state. And the employees -- despite what the naysayers on this board insist -- are damned proud of the turnaround they have accomplished.

The last DL's employees want is to be forcibly merged with US, which quite likely will undo all the good work they've done keeping their airline from going belly up.

And it's not just the employees either. There are lots of us frequent flyers who are darned proud of what "their" airline has accomplished also. There are lots of mere citizens who are proud to have Delta call Atlanta home.

This goes much farther than a disgruntled customer and an egotistical airline boss.

They need to welcome change. You think they can just be the state's largest employer forever? The senators getting all fired up is just ridiculous, being a Georgia resident I would really like them focus on other things. There was not this much of a fit pitched when AT&T/SBC bought BellSouth. I don't think you would ever see this "Delta is mine don't take her away" kind of mentality in the North.

When you FAIL and go into bankruptcy this is what can happen. Let's not forget they did not get in this position of being bought out by being so good at doing what they are supposed to be doing. If that was the case then their market cap would be so high no one could buy them (look at LUV's market cap), this is how a free market society works.

Oh, so just because Delta didn't change a policy that they have had for 75+ years just to suit YOUR needs, then suddenly they are just being annoying? No, just being annoying would be telling you that you didn't use the second half of that ticket and to just shove off. And, since they happen to have a policy that doesn't suit YOUR preference as you prefer, then let's just change our mind and hope they get bought. Good way to look at things. sarcastic

Oh, and another thing I would like to make clear. The "Keep Delta My Delta" buttons that you speak so condescendingly of, were produced by the Delta Board Council, a group of Delta employees elected to serve as a intermediary between the front line employees and management. They are the ones that chose to make the buttons and asked Delta management if they could be worn. Management gave their blessing and each Delta employee has been given one button, to be worn IF THEY CHOOSE. It is merely an option, and being that Delta employee's(and I think its safe to say ALL of them) are staunchly against any kind of merger due to the hard work they have done for the airline thus far, they wear them to voice their opinion to the public, to each other, and to US Airways. The buttons were made independently, so the money did not come from Delta's bottom line, and Delta employees can wear them if they so choose. No gun is being held to anyone's head.

Delta employees do not see the merger being as viable as their own turnaround plan, and the merger would make the airline's General Offices in Tempe, AZ, thus eliminating 25,000 jobs in Atlanta immediately. Do you want Atlanta to have that size of unemployment, also compounded if US decided to not have ATL as a hub? I would hope you wouldn't want that for your town. Parker has already started backtracking on his lies, first stating no jobs would be lost, then saying any lost jobs would not come from furlough, and now saying that the General Offices would close, but no room in Tempe for anyone. This is a hostile takeover attempt by US Airways, one that no one at Delta see's happening, one that no one at Delta WANTs to happen, and one that the Delta people are willing to fight tooth and nail.

By merging with a lower class airline?

Quoting ATLAaron (Reply 10):

They have so far, why change it?

Quoting ATLAaron (Reply 10):

Because their job is to bring companies to the state and keep them from leaving. Having the largest employer in the state of Georgia leave and having that many people suddenly raise Georgia's unemployment rate is not a good way to ensure re-election next time. Having the company suddenly leave like that and not doing anything about it would lower the public's vision of their elected officials.

Quoting ATLAaron (Reply 10):
I don't think you would ever see this "Delta is mine don't take her away" kind of mentality in the North.

Because Southerner's have hearts and feel connected to their "hometown" companies, whether Yankee's do or not. And they are much nicer than up North. I don't know of a thing called "Northern Hospitality", but there sure is one that is well known in the South. Why do you think the South tried to seceed in the 1860's? We were already trying to stop the Snowbirds from coming down and ruining our "Southern Hospitality."

Quoting ATLAaron (Reply 10):
Let's not forget they did not get in this position of being bought out by being so good at doing what they are supposed to be doing.

Of which past management caused, and of which the current management has turned around, yet another reason Delta people are against any thought of a merger in any way. Or have you not been caught up on Delta's bankruptcy proceedings, being too busy losing ticket numbers and expecting Delta to change everything just for you?

I saw several Delta employees wearing these buttons today, and every time I interacted with one of them wearing this button, I made sure to thank them for taking a stand on this merger and letting them know that their customers were with them on this - they were quite gracious thanking me for supporting them.

As for management giving them out, I was told by a few of them that they came out of their own pockets - management had nothing to do with it.
