Hi there,
can someone tell me how much time it takes to travel from Terminal 1 to Terminal 4 at Madrid Barajas Airport? When I arrive with FR at Terminal 1, and I like to get on a IB domestic flight, do I have to leave the terminal building and go through security again at T4? And what if I have an IB e-ticket and check in online the day before? Would that save me a lot of time?
Thank you!
Ciao!

From my experiences, you'll have to leave the secure area at T1 and go to T4 by (complimentary) shuttle bus on the landside. This will take you, depending on the time of the day, about 30 minutes from baggage collection until you reach T4.
Checking in by internet will save you the hassle to queue once again in T4, which would take you another 5-10 minutes or so.
Also, you have to factor in waiting time at security and waling time to your gate, which might cost you another 5-10 minutes depending on where in T4 your flight leaves.

There's also an airside bus connecting T1, T2 and T4, and this might be faster. It's a free transfer between terminals for travelling passengers who have already checked in their luggage or only with hand luggage.
Stops are these:
-T1 ground floor. Baggage reclaim hall 1.
-T1 ground floor. Baggage reclaim hall 2.
-T2 ground floor. Baggage reclaim hall 5.
-T2 ground floor. Baggage reclaim hall 6.
-T4 ground floor.
Timetable:
From 6:30am to 11:30pm.
Every 8 minutes.

Domestic and Schegen countries flights depart from T4. Other international destinations (transatlantic and non-schegen) from T4S.
i hope you'll like the new terminals! there are amazing!
bye! rmcf
More like 7-8 mins. It is a very unreliable service. I use it every day to go to work and I always give myself at least 30 mins to get from metro station at T2 to T4. At 7:00 am is specially awful. I am always afraid of clocking in late. Hope the metro station at T4 opens soon
