FAA Says Hopkins One Of Nation's Safest Airports

POSTED: 3:00 pm EST November 20, 2006
UPDATED: 3:06 pm EST November 20, 2006

CLEVELAND. -- As the holiday travel season approaches, there's good news if you're flying into or out of Cleveland Hopkins International Airport.

The Federal Aviation Administration said Hopkins is one of the safest airports in the country when it comes to emergency response, airfield management and signage, NewsChannel5 reported.

This is the third year in a row that Hopkins has received an exceptional rating.

Also...don't forget that Cleveland is one of THE poorest metropolitan city in the USA.

Do you mean that poverty improves airport safety? Personally, I don't see the connection, but stranger things can be proven.

The City alone is one of the poorest, the metro area is probably average since so many people with the means have fled to the outskirts to avoid crowded aging neighborhoods, crime, poverty, school system, etc.

It's ranked high in safety since traffic is much lower than other major hubs....IMO. I flew out of CLE last monday and I was however suprised it took 45 minutes to clear the security at conc. C for CAL....at 615am. Now I wonder if it will take me that long tomorrow at 615am to clear security for my flight to FLL out of MCO....

That was your first mistake. All of the terminals are behind security, so you should have gone to B security or even A. At that time in the morning the other two checkpoints are much easier to pass through, usually 5-10 mins at most.

Ok..but what does that have to do with the airport?

Again..what does this have to do with safety?

Exactly. It has NEVER taken me more than 10 minutes to get through security. I can always make my flight if I arrive 45 minutes before departure and check in using Easy Check-in... There's never anyone around A or B security checkpoints...

When I think of airport security and safe airports. I think of the security at the checkpoints, as well as within the terminal.

Poor cities... I think of crime, bad neighborhoods, well, everything here revolves around crime and police protection to prevent and protect against crime...

Do not bring stranger girt into your room. The stranger girt is dangerous, it will hurt your life.

Do you see that new promo they are running at CLE? Something to do if you are caught picking up trash in the airport you can win a free ticket on CO or something like that. I can't quite remember all of the details.
