I haven't heard anything on this so far. have all the stations that were to be outsourced been completely changed over? What was the criteria? What happens if the station no longer meets the criteria or a station falls into the criteria?

There are a lot of stations that have been outsourced recently... many with a severe lack of training, ability, and competence. Its so bad, that at one outstation last week, a friend of mine who flies for Pinnacle had to get out of the airplane and inspect the nose gear for damage after pushback. Just yesterday, a CRJ magically had a dent the size of a breakfast bowl appear near the baggage door... nobody told anyone about it, it was found by the FO on the preflight and subsequently caused a 3 hour maintenance delay and multiple missed connections.

Yea BDL was switched over to WFS a few weeks ago. These guys look like they weren't even trained, just thrown out onto the ramp to figure it out. At first I helped them with things like the t-point belt, but they still never learned, so I let them figure it out.

Well, from that article.. it does say 50 or more MAINLINE flights per week is the requirement.
Now here is an issue..
RDU was supposedly changed Nov 14 to an outsourced station due to us having 42 mainline flights. But come Dec 19, we will have 56 mainline flights as our 3 MEM flights revert from CRJ to DC9. So will this remain an outsourced station? was it converted on 14Nov since they knew it was changing to a criteria busting station?

Very good question. One that a lot of folks have been waiting to see happen. I think most of that question can be answered in the explanations that were sent out before the vote. I can't get to it now as I'm way too far from home but I'm sure that NW will try and push it as far as possible before re-manning an outsourced station.
Let's see how far they let this continue before the quality of new personnel forces a change or if ll will just settle down (and I mean that in SO many ways).

Quoting Flyf15 (Reply 3): many with a severe lack of training, ability, and competence.
No kidding- JAX just recieved theirs, what a joke. They can't even figgure out the beltloader, let alone the pushback tug. NW thinks they're saving money with this, but in reality, it's going to cost them more in a/c damage, GSE damage, and sheer missed connections/hotel expenses. I'd rather have the higher-paid IAM workers, at least they were competent and usually very motivated. $7/hr just doesn't motivate someone to work.

Quoting ERJ170 (Reply 7): Was it 50 mainline flights or just 50 total?
50 Mainline

The cutoff was based off 2005, it doesn't matter anymore.

All contract employees aren't paid $7/hr. Several companies have their starting pay in range of $9.50-$10.00 which is par with where most airlines start people out at. It is the salary cap that is different, usually no more than $12/hr after a couple of years.
If there are problems regarding contract employees, then it can be a combonation of NW not providing the necessary resources to train before station opening, or the contract company resting on its laurels and not sending in an "A-team" if you will to get the station off and running well while all new employees get proper training.
I have caught alot of flack from people saying I am ignorant in saying that no ramp agent is worth $15-$22/hr. If they have additional responsibilities, then maybe, but just to load some bags, and then sit around until your next aircraft gets in...no way. A ramp agent position is an entry level position, and should be paid as such. I did the job, and moved up within the industry. If you want more money, take a few college/techincal school courses and pave your path.

Pinnacle is paying their people 7/hr in JAX. The old ramp folks used to do more than load/push aircraft, they were also the ticket/gate agents, did the a/c cleaning, and alot more. They didn't have alot of people on staff, so everyone earned their keep.

For all of that, yes, I agree...they should be starting out at around $10/hr. I would still cap it though to a max of $13/hr. This is all still entry level work.
