I would like to know what are the plans of AC for this route. Will they assume it or just codeshare with RG through JFK?

I would think it would be more to their advantage to fly there directly and code share all over South America through Varig. I've never heard they plan to abandon the route.

It will become an Air Canada flight, infact it will be an AC flight number on the tickets and in the airports when it departs tonight. There is also a roumor that Varig will return to YYZ and the two airlines will operate together on this route, much like YYZ-FRA with AC and LH or YYZ-MEX with AC and MX.

I e-mailed them about 2 months ago about this flight as it is my preferred trip routing.

They replied that it was being upgraded to one flight per day.............good news.

Every time but with one exception that I have flown this flight, the plane is always full so that seemed logical.

Does Canadi>n fly to GIG as well? I thought that they only ever flew to GIG and EZE, but while in GIG last month I noticed a Canadi>n ticket counter in the departures hall in the Green Sector. The Arrivals and Departure board indicated that their flights operated there maybe two times a week.

Anybody have info?

Don't worry, this route will be kept, and look for AC to expand in South America in the next 5-10 years as aircraft become available.
