Stick Control On Airbuses

Hi !
I would like to know if the pilots are embarrassed by the stick control on Airbus airliners instead of having a yoke. For example, if the captain is right-handed, he could be embarassed to control the plane because of the left position of the stick...

When you learn to fly you will understand this a lot more.
You only have one hand on the control and the other on the throttle. And that is they way people have been flying for a long time. So it is no difference then any other plane!!

From what I have read from different sources is that the side stick control is more ergonomic, and comfortable. They have a holder that sits right in front of the pilot, that can hold charts or other important infomation,and is within an easy eye glance. On planes with the traditional yokes this holder is to the side.

And when you consider that many fighter aircraft also have side controllers like Airbus,and that a large portion of airline pilots come from the military,why would it be "weird" to the pilots,instead it would be familiar to them.

I've heard that some pilots dislike the sidestick because they can't "feel" the plane.

Actually, I have never heard of a pilot or mechanic who likes airbuses a lot, (I'm not saying there aren't)

I know pilots who like airbus. But I know lots of people who fly boeing who would like a go at the airbuses as of the glass and the whole style.

From what I've read here and in various aviation magazines and newspaper articles over the years, most of the pilots who don't like the sidestick are the ones who haven't used it. Most of the adverse comments are from people who "wouldn't like it" rather than from people who "don't like it".

In Europe, most cars have manual gearboxes and there are still people who don't like automatics because they don't feel they're driving as much as they do when they change gear themselves. I used to think like that and my car has a manual gearbox because I don't want to lose the skill of changing gear. But when I drive my dad's automatic, with a reasonable engine behind it, it's an absolute dream in town and on twisty roads alike.

The fact is that the Sidestick was yet another innovation by Airbus (think of the fly-by-wire, first for civil aircraft after Concorde on the A320).
The Sidestick has proven to be very succesfull and if pilots would't have liked it Airbus would have abolished them.
Don't forget... not only Boeing builds aircraft for pilots!!!
I think Boeing will adopt the stick for its planes, but maybe they need a few more years for that (fly-by-wire on Boeing jets came seven (!) years after Airbus implemented it.
