Hey guys,
Lately there have been flying around some rumours about a re-birth of the Venezuelan airline Venezolana de Aviacion/RAVSA.
I read in a local newspaper some days ago that they'd get three B738s to start flying within the Venezuelan territory, and as a logic way of thinking, I didn't believe a single word of it. As a matter of fact, today I went to CH-Aviation and found out that they have a pretty 'big' fleet considering they're a Venezuelan airline with some recently acquired B732s. Here's the fleet:

So they stopped flying, but will restart with three 732s?
I remember that one of their jetstreams 31 crashed into the fire house while trying to land at Maiquetia.
Nice little airline. But I think there's way too much competition as it is for a new entry into the domestic Venezuelan market.
By the way, really interesting name! Perhaps, Santa Barbara should buy the name and rebrand themselves as "Venezolana de Aviacion." since practically, they are the only carrier representing Venezuela in long distance routes.

I heard the rumour as well last week and didn't believe it. I even checked in ch.aviation and there was nothing. However, now I see this post and your link and I am amazed. I hope they can pull this up. Good luck indeed!! Does anybody know where this airlines is based? Thanks in advance.

Congratulations RAVSA !
We really need another domestic carrier. There are so many underserved routes that need some competition. A nice idea would be Caracas-Porlamar or Caracas-Maracaibo. I am sure they will make a lot of money there as the return fares of 50-120 USD are much to high and the existing carrier are making that hell of a money that they even don't know how to invest it. Venezuela is full of new aircraft flying around due to the high airfares that the only 12 existing airlines are charging.
So they have really found a market gap. I am looking forward to fly those state-of-the art 732 !

Quoting B757200 (Reply 7): Looks like Venezuela is turning from DC9-land into 732-land.
No thats not correct. Aserca phase-in more and more DC-9 (former Aerocaribe, Northwest, Inter, DCA and TWA) and btw, they also get a new livery... (first aircraft looks like the livery of UPS, Thai etc in red).
Quoting B757200 (Reply 7): Terrible livery in my opinion

Thanks for the correction. So Aserca insists on bringing more DC-9...way to go.
Quoting Erikgnoha (Reply 9): I believe this new livery looks really great

Thank you for following my sarcastic arguments
Quoting 797 (Reply 11):
IMO, they shoul start routes that no airline currently does... not CCS-PMV as three airlines currently do!
I was not serious with that. I just tried to be ironic .
At the moment I don't know where they could fly without creating additional severe competition. Maybe CCS-MAO or CCS-CUN, CCS-SJO or PTY. Maybe something out of PMV. But for 3 732 and 10 J31 I really don't see enough market.

Holy cow! Finally!!!
I must admit I hate the previous livery, I always saw it as a very cheap and poor one. Now, it kinda looks a bit more elegant, pitty they'll keep on going with those crappy DC-9s.... It's so out-dated...
Nah, I don't think this routes would work, especially with some 732s. That flight would be painfull!
I'd dare to say that the best routes they can apply is for domestic cities that don't have services from other airlines, and maybe create jet-bridges between CCS and MAR. Who knows. In the end, I don't really like how this is looking.
Some more info would be great!
Cheers
