KLMs MD-11s --> Nwa?

AS KLM will be replacing its MD-11s about the same time NWA will be replacing its DC-10s, it seems like a good idea for NWA to pick up these 10 MD-11s from KLM to cover their longest DC-10 routes and some of the B747-200 routes.

I don't think that Northwest would be interested in this deal. They announced about a month ago that will be soon purchasing either 777's or Airbus 340's to replace the aging DC-10's. I don't think that they want used aircraft.

I'm surprised that they did not order any new P&W 4000 powered MD-11ERs from McDonnell Douglas in the early 90s to replace their aging P&W JT9D powered DC-10 series 40s.

NWA is ordering either the 777 or A330 to replace the DC-10, not the A340.

I bet that they will go for the A330.

I'll guess that KLM will go with the 777 or 767-400ERX and it wouldn't surprise me to see them order the A3XX in a combi version.
