I was once again looking thru an old copy of airliner world and saw a picture of this magnificent lady. I was curious if she is still flying? Not necessarily the 743 that adored the paint-job but more the artwork itself. In the database one of the pictures said she was being repaired and being brought to airworthiness condition but have not see a picture taken of her since August of 2005. I believe QF still flies the 743 on some routes, but if not do you think QF would put this artwork on another 744?

This aircraft is grounded and it is said to be beyond economical repair. It is missing engines, pylons and landing gear. Some autopilot components have been removed also. All of these components are now scarce or unavailable.
The 743 seems to be destined to live out its days flying PER-SYD/MEL. The last thing I heard about the QF fleet plan had the 743 flying until 2011, but I gather the fleet plan changes often.
As to the paint scheme...I can't say, not having heard what plans are afoot. I think of big canvases and the A380 in the same vein. I shall ask around, but if there are plans they will be commercial confidential and its unlikely that my sources would know.
