Hi guys...

Just thought id ask around to see if anyone had any new news on possible new BHX routes in 2007 ??

Rumors that have been banded around but have not come to fruition include:

9W coming to BHX .. now looks like LHR
AI to introduce more frequency
QR to star an operation into DOH
GF Traveller to begin lower cost route to the middle east
EY to start the AUH service to compete with EK
NW to begin 757 winglet ops to north america
AA to start services back to ORD but most likely JFK with 757

thats a lot of rumors and idealistic 'wants' but some were actually discussed more seriously ... any idea if we have any new routes to come to BHX soon ??

And also did BE take all of BACON's sked's and routes ?? and if not.. will other carriers be coming in to fill the void.. ie .. for instance if BACON flew to MAD (IF) and BE didnt keep that route would we see IB coming in and filling that void ?? ... just a thought..

Thanks guys..

Well AI might still keep its DEL-ATQ-BHX-YYZ service but i doubt they would route another flight bound for north america via BHX since they are getting the 772LR and 77W to do non-stop routes to N. America, but with AI, you never know till last minute where they will end up.  banghead

BACON operate quite a few routes to Germany so if FlyBe don't take up those routes you can be sure LH will jump right in there!

On a slightly different note, it's been a while since the last AI Express 738W passed through on delivery.....

It does seem that BHX has reached a plateua for new routes except for the new Flybe ones to Split and Dubrovnik. Pity there is no Venice. Bmibaby seems to wasnt just to replicate the present carriers on routes so there are no new ones there Barcelona is new for Bmibaby but BA/Flybe operate anyway.
There is an increase on Toronto charters with the arrival of Flyglobespan. just we shal see who wins that one.

Whatever happened to FlyWho, who were supposed to start Florida ops from BHX in July? At first it was anticipated that the airline would use TriStars, but it was later changed to A310s. I saw pics of the colour scheme and the website was up and running earlier in the year. It was not only displaying a timetable and fares but was actually accepting bookings.

There are some previuos topics on Flywho and there is no chance it will fly.The airline was on watchdog last week and is now not refunding customers only changing the dates of flights booked .This will be to a fictional date in the future. I do think it is a pity as there is a demand for Florida flights from BHX but no airline will try it know as the route has been tainted by Flywho

what did watchdog hve to say regarding them ?

I have to say I was quite positive.. (Call me naive) but when they started touting they were using tristars.. I knew it was a doomed effort.
sadly like you say we could use more transatlantic traffic as most of the BHX captive market has to travel up to MAN or down to LHR to fly...

NW from DTW ? That sounds interesting.
I would think there's a better chance to see DL from ATL, even with B757.
How about an UA IAD-BHX?

no US carrier is showing any interest in BHX. The only one that may return some day is AA but that be to either JFK or BOS.

Continental is committed to BHX with doudle daily flights over the summer and 10 pw ofter the winter next yr.

AI B738 delivery flight is routing through BHX this weekend, arriving at 0700ish on Sat AM, nightstopping before leaving early doors Sunday.

In addition to the 9W rumours there has also been a widely quoted interview with someone from Indian Airlines looking at linking BHX with somewhere in India, possibly Ahmedabad ?

Other than that I'd be gob-smacked to see additional US flights next year, maybe 2008/9. I was hoping, maybe even expecting QR to announce Doha but nothing as yet and I was hoping that WW would open up into Eastern Europe but I guess that was always wishfull thinking!

Do Qatar really need another route from the UK? They must have the demand then. Surpised at AA too.

There is a masterplan outlining an extension to the current runway which is the priority and the ultimately an additional runway that will run paralel in an offset kind of way, if it goes ahead it will of adequate distance to allow duel operations.
