2nd Qantas At MAN

There was another Qantas jumbo at manchester this morning at about 600am,
it made a missed approach then eventually landed.
Once on the Ground he asked GND control to thank all the controllers for there help,

Does anyone know why it was diverted and what the problem was??
i wouldn't have thought it was due to weather at LHR as the weather at MAN was terrible eg the missed app

It would be the weather - from what I can remember looking at forecasts at this time last night, LHR's weather was gonig to be marginally worse than MAN. I gather from a thread on another forum that some LHR aircraft diverted to AMS.

Howdy,

The aircraft was VH-OEC a B744 Operating QFA1 from Bangkok to Heathrow.

It diverted to MAN due to fuel shortage. The first missed approach was made at 07:04 am this morning, due to a/c on the runway, finally landing at 07:16am.

Departed to LHR at 09:58.

It was high crosswinds at MAN too - 29kts at one point!!

LX200 diverted to MAN yesterday (Sunday) also, due to high winds at its Dublin destination. Aircraft type was an A319.

Not thread-related, but the luchtime LH FRA service was an A300, the Libyan turned up as the KM A320 and MAS 777 9M-MRE again operated the 11:45 PIA arrival from Islamabad.

I was at LHR for a few hours yesterday afternoon Sunday 3rd Dec, and noticed Qantas B747 VH-OEC parked outside the BA Hanger next to a South African B747.

Qantas normally has a B747 parked outside the BA hanger in between flights, but i remember it was VH-OEC as it is more often a Rolls Royce B747 we get from QF.

I wondered what that was doing in, its operated it a few times now. Aircraft was 9H-AEO. We handle KM at MAN, but as it was sub-charter for Libyan we have nothing to do with it.

Swiss A319 was HB-IPV.
